Below are samples of my photography and video projects.
For my Senior Capstone, I wrote, directed and produced a short film based on my first feature-length screenplay, No Pretty Drawings. The story centers around a young woman in search of her anonymous secret admirer, revealing secrets from her past in the process.
For my visual literacy class, I collaborated with a peer to create this mockumentary about college life during the COVID-19 pandemic. She shot the footage and I directed the actors and helped to write the script.
I created a photographic series for my Visual Literacy class in college. My theme centered around small elements of nature and its interactions with everyday life.
This is another sample from the photographic series. The swing is man-made, but was located in a park in Chevy Chase, Maryland. I felt it was the perfect subject to capture the intersection between nature and human activity.
For my Principles of Photography final project, I focused on the theme of architecture and aesthetics in Washington DC. I visited neighborhoods in the northwest quadrant that are in close proximity to each other, but are starkly different. The project was intended to be a critique on the socially constructed concept of aesthetic pleasure. This photo was taken outside a café in Georgetown.
By contrast, this photo was taken at Fort Reno in Tenleytown. While Georgetown is manicured and bustling with people, Fort Reno is surrounded by chain-link fences and overgrown trees. It has an isolated and even ominous feel to it. Tenleytown and Georgetown are relatively close to each other, yet show different sides of the same city.
